FRANCIS BARRETT

Francis Barrett is one of Ireland's best known amateur boxers. He is a Traveller who had a dream of boxing at the Olympic Games. Francis' remarkable story has been documented in a real life movie, 'Southpaw', which follows Francis from winning his first Irish senior title, to the Olympic Games and beyond.  It is an amazing story about an amazing person who, in overcoming adversity, won the hearts of the Irish public with charm and his all action boxing skills.

The story, however, does not stop there. Francis is set to 'turn'  professional and fulfil another of his dreams: To win a World Title.
